Food Assistance Program Changes
On October 8, 2012 the Mitchell County Department of Social Services started using the NC Fast program to process Food and Nutrition Assistance applications. NC Fast (North Carolina Families Access Services through technology) is a new computer program that will help us to better service the citizens of North Carolina. This program will be slow at first and may cause delays in delivering services. Interview times may take 45 to 90 minutes or longer according to the number of people in your household. Wait times will also be longer to see a worker. More information will be required during the interview than we have needed before. Please make sure that all information, review forms and changes are in our office as quickly as possible in order for your benefits to have less delay.
